About the Review

The London Review of Suit Tailors is an independent editorial project. We started it because buying a first made-to-measure suit in London is harder than it should be: two dozen tailors, prices from £750 to £2,000 for what looks like the same thing, and a great deal of vagueness about where and how the suits are actually made.

We have been reviewing the London tailoring scene since 2021. We score every made-to-measure tailor with a retail presence in London on the same eight metrics, publish the working, and say what we think in the notes. The scoring is deliberately simple so that a reader can disagree with it; the Method explains every number.

How we work

Scores come from published prices, construction details tailors state or confirm to us, Google review ratings, feedback from readers who have bought suits, and information from people who work in the trade. Where a tailor has corrected us with evidence, we have updated their entry and said so on the page. Where we were wrong, we say that too (see Hugo Boss).

We write as an editorial “we”. The Review is anonymous because several of us work in or around the industry, and the reviews are more useful when they are blunt.

Corrections and contributions

If we have mis-ranked your tailor, missed one, or got a fact wrong, use the Contribute page. Every entry carries the date its scores were last reviewed.

Start with the Guide for the full ranking, the tailor pages for individual reviews, or the Introduction if you are new to made-to-measure.
